HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — Authorities investigated a crash Wednesday involving an 18-wheeler.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol, troopers along with Terry Police and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department responded to the single-vehicle crash on I-55 North near Tank Road around 4:20 p.m.
MHP Cpl.Eric Henry said the preliminary investigation indicates that the 18-wheeler was headed south on the interstate when the driver lost control and ran into the median.
The driver hit the cable barriers and went across northbound lanes and ran into a ditch.
The barriers were wedged under the truck 18 wheeler stretching across the northbound lanes, Henry said.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 18-wheeler was carrying medical supplies.
Authorities said distracted driving may have played a factor in this crash.
The accident is under investigation. Terry PD is the lead agency investigating this crash.
