RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) – One man has been arrested in Ridgeland for armed robbery and auto burglaries.

Police said 23-year-old Simeon Maurice Herrod was denied bond.

On August 8, Ridgeland Police were notified of two auto burglaries in the Canterbury subdivision off Richardson Road. Police said several items were stolen from the unlocked vehicles, including a firearm.

On Monday the Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt on Lake Harbor Drive was robbed around 9:20 p.m. The victim said a person came inside and displayed a gun, demanding money.  It was later discovered a suspicious vehicle was in the Menchie’s parking lot later into the night after all employees of nearby businesses had left.

The license plate information was given to police; the car was later spotted by an officer and they were able to pull the driver over. They also discovered clothing that matched the description of the suspect in the armed robbery along with the stolen firearm from the auto burglaries.

Herrod was taken into custody and charged with traffic offenses, armed robbery and two counts of auto burglary. Police also connected Herrod to a December 2014 robbery of Menchie’s. He was charged with that crime as well.
