ADAMS COUNTY, Miss. – For Marie Rice today marks 100 years on Earth.
“I feel good to be 100 years old,” Marie Rice said.
Rice is the oldest person in her family, she has 5 children, 17 grand children, 40 great grandchildren, 25 great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild.
“It’s a very big deal in my life, I hope this is a goal for me to become 100,” Eric Smith, Rice’s great grandchild.
“To have a mother to be 100 years old, I feel I have something to look forward to myself,” Charlie Rice said about his mother.
While Rice is in a wheel chair her family says she’s in good health, she recalls many things that took place over her century of life–her family says she is a historian.
“She can tell you about the horse and the buggy…and she can tell you about her first car ride–she can tell you about those things,” Rice’s granddaughter Sandra Ellis, said.
Rice tells me she has no secrets to living a long life, she is just blessed and looking forward to her big birthday party.
“I feel like it’s going to be kind of big–they haven’t told me how big it’s going to be…but I feel like it’s going to be big,” Rice said.
