DAVIS ISLAND, Miss. (WJTV) — Several big alligators were caught over the weekend in Mississippi, including a 826 pound gator.
According to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, and Fisheries and Parks’ website, this is the first officially recorded and measured 14-foot alligator in the state.
It was captured by private land permit holder Kennie Crechale of Morton on Saturday. He caught the gator on Rosedale Hunting Club on Davis Island, which is located on the Mississippi River.
Several other gator captures were recorded by MDWFP this past weekend. Gator season started Friday, August 28.
A 694.5 pound gator was captured by a group from Ellisville, an 822-pound gator was caught by a Natchez group. See those photo’s of those and others on the MDWFP”s website.
