Bond lowered to $150K for block party shooting suspect

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The man accused of shooting six people during a block party appeared in court Monday.

Ryan Davis went before Judge Melvin Priester.

His bond was lowered from $300,000 to $150,000.

Davis is facing six charges of aggravated assault.

Six people were shot on Lorenz Street October 28, the weekend of Jackson State University’s homecoming. Officers told WJTV that a fight led to the shooting.

Police released video of the the suspect, who fired shots in the crowd. You could see people frantically running, afraid for their lives.

While the event did go on during JSU’s homecoming weekend, campus leaders said this was not a university sanctioned event, and they had nothing to do with it.

Judge Priester said if Davis makes bond, he should be placed on house arrest.
