Commission hands over Tisdale library to Jackson

Closed for two years by flooding, mold, library calls it quits

The Jackson-Hinds Library system handed over the former Tisdale Library on Northside Drive to the City of Jackson.

For two years, the building has been closed because of flooding. Now, the collection which is housed there is beyond saving. Library officials say the books are full of mold.

They voted Tuesday to abandon their interest in the building. But the members of the board hope they will be able to open another location that can serve people in those neighborhoods.
