Corrections officer accused of bringing contraband inside CMCF


JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Investigators with the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) arrested a corrections officer at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF) in Pearl on Wednesday.

According to MDOC, Brenda D. Hicks of Morton was arrested for allegedly introducing and possessing contraband in the facility and extortion. Investigators said the contraband included methamphetamine.

Hicks, 50, made an initial appearance Thursday before Rankin County Judge Kent McDaniel, and court records show he set her bond at $100,000. A court employee told The Associated Press that Hicks was not represented by an attorney.
