HATTIESBURG, MS (WHLT) – A Hattiesburg landmark and the scene of a 2012 shooting is closing it’s doors for good.
The owner of Cucos Mexican Restaurant, Ricardo Mussiett, says the business suffered a 60% sales drop after 5 people were injured in an April 2012 shooting.
Mussiett says he hasn’t been able to bounce back since. He also attributes low revenue to the economy. According to Mussiett, the local restaurant has taken a fall.
Cucos, which sits on Highway 49 across from Forrest General Hospital, will serve it’s last meal July 31st.
The restaurant opened in 1985.
Mussiett’s next step? He says he’s going to enjoy retirement.
