PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – Pearl Police charged 42-year-old Edward McWilliams of Richland with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of 25-year-old Herbert Redmond of Jackson.
The stabbing happened at the Wendy’s on Pearson Road Thursday night after 8:30.
Investigators say a fight between the two employees started in the kitchen area. Redmond had been stabbed in the neck and died at the scene. McWilliams was taken into custody at the restaurant without incident.
Investigators recovered the knife, which allegedly belonged to McWilliams.
McWilliams is being held at the Rankin County Detention Center without bond. Investigators said he is a convicted felon that served time in the Mississippi Department of Corrections for armed robbery and manslaughter.
The case has been turned over to Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett for prosecution.
Wendy’s released a statement about the incident:
We are saddened by this senseless act of violence and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of our restaurant team members. This was an isolated incident and we will continue to work with law enforcement on the investigation. UPDATE: The victim’s identity has now been released from the Rankin County coroner. He’s identified as 25-year-old Herbert Redmond of Jackson.
PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – The Pearl Police Department is investigating an incident at Wendy’s on Pearson Road. A fight between two employees in the kitchen resulted in a stabbing.
Police said one employee died and the other is in custody.
Their names are not being released at this time.
