JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The man accused of driving the car that slammed into another vehicle during a police chase appeared in court Thursday.
Donnell Johnson is charged with second-degree murder. A judge denied Johnson bond at his initial court appearance.
Johnson was suspected of shoplifting at the Clinton Walmart Monday night.
Clinton police chased him into Jackson city limits. Johnson crashed his car head-on into Lonnie Blue Jr.’s vehicle at the intersection of Tennessee and Capitol streets. Blue died from his injuries.
Two other people were in the car with Blue. All three of them were taken to the hospital for their injuries.
