Jim Hood is a fifth-generation Mississippian, grew up and was educated in the public schools of Chickasaw County.
A native of Houston, Mississippi, Hood went to the University of Mississippi where he earned his undergraduate and law degrees.
He cut his teeth starting out as a lawyer with the Attorney General’s office. He was later elected as a District Attorney in north Mississippi. Hood earned the state’s top prosecutor slot serving as Attorney General for the State of Mississippi since 2003.
