JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Department of Corrections is warning visitors to follow the rules when  visiting.

MDOC states that visitors who bring contraband to state prisons jeopardize privileges for inmates.

MDOC discovered contraband on a female visitor to the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman on Saturday.

This was the first weekend for visitation after a lockdown on Units 29 and 30.

MDOC is currently investigating why the visitor had the contraband.

The unidentified, female visitor has not been charged at this time.

MDOC also says another lockdown at Parchman may be in the near future.
