Fire crews managed to extinguish the remaining flames from a fire that happened on Sunday just outside the city of Brandon. Investigators said the fire started when a man was burning leaves. Neighbor Darlene Collier said she was scared to see a ball of smoke outside her window, when she awoke Monday morning.

“When I saw the smoke I was like oh no,” said Collier. “With the wind blowing and stuff I didn’t want that lady’s house to be burned.”

Collier said seeing the fire under control is a sigh of relief know what happened to her home over 20 years ago.

“My home burned down in 1992,” said Collier. “It just scared me and I didn’t any sleep last night.”
