FLOWOOD, Miss. (WJTV) – JD Beall made school history Friday, becoming the first football player from Hartfield Academy to sign with a Division one school.

The offensive lineman is transferring from East Mississippi Community College to Samford. Family, friends, and Hartfield classmates packed the high school gym lobby for a special signing ceremony. Beall says Samford is the perfect fit.

“They have my major – ministry studies,” Beall said. “It’s in Birmingham, only three hours away so it’s not too far from my parents and all the people here.”
