Jackson City Council approves ordinance for tougher penalties for street racers

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – During a meeting on Tuesday, the Jackson City Council approved an ordinance that would crack down on street racing in the city.

The “Charles ‘Chuck’ Griffin, Jr. Ordinance” passed unanimously. The ordinance increases the penalties for street racing, and violators could have their vehicles towed.

The City Council waved a 30 day waiting period, meaning the ordinance takes effect immediately.
