JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – City of Jackson Councilman De’keither Stamps says there unrest in the city of Clinton following that fatal police chase that ended in Jackson.
On Friday, Stamps called to taxpayers to start impacting the economics of the city of Clinton and other areas who participate in police chases.
He also said Clinton is a Ferguson waiting to happen.
The councilman held a press conference today to explain why.
“The overlooking of people’s pain. The family is in mourning right now and that conversation is being overshadowed by a lot of other conversations,” said Ward 4 Councilman De’Keither Stamps. “It creates a frustration inside of the family, then inside of the circle of influence and then inside the community and then it leads to, it starts a snowball going down the road.”
Lonnie Blue Junior lost his life last week after a police chase that started in Clinton, ended in the city of Jackson.
WJTV reached out late today to the city of Clinton for a response to Stamps’ statements, we haven’t heard back from them at this time.
