JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba held a news conference on Monday, March 1 to give an update on the city’s efforts to restore water pressure.
According to Public Works Director Dr. Charles Williams, the PSI level on Monday was at 84. He said he would like the system to reach 90 PSI.
Williams said crews have fixed 51 water main breaks in the city. He said he knows neighbors are frustrated, but crews are working as quickly as they can to fix the problem.
“People want the water restored now, but we’re actively working all of the scenarios to get that done, and we’re not going to stop until the job is completed,” he stated.
Williams said the city cannot give a definite day or time when the water will be fully restored.
