Jackson school gets rewarded after students run

News

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – One Jackson school gets $2,000 all because their students laced up their shoes and hit the pavement running.

Davis Magnet School got a prize because they had the most students run in the “Get Ready to Run” fun run.

They had 51 percent of eligible students participated in that race.

The school was honored by BlueCross Blue Shield of Mississippi at Blue Cross’ main campus in Flowood.

“This has been a long journey for them. They received curriculum at the beginning of the year that included seven lessons, all tied to running. They’re been working really hard on their running skills and that showed and paid off,”  said Eugenia King, the BlueCross BlueShield of Mississippi Health and Fitness Coordinator.
