Southern Miss is preparing to take on Jackson State in their season opener Saturday.

Unlike the Tigers, the Golden eagles have named a starting quarterback. That’s Jack Abraham, a guy they say they’re confident in to lead the Golden Eagles offense this season.

$2.3M awarded to UMMC Connected Care Pilot Program

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - On Friday, U.S. Senator Roger Wicker announced the award of $2,377,875 from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) for a Connected Care Pilot Program, which will provide support for telehealth services for low-income Americans who live in rural areas or are veterans.

“The University of Mississippi Medical Center has been on the leading edge of providing telehealth services to rural areas,” Wicker said. “This award from the FCC’s Connected Care Pilot Program will be a major boost to our state’s efforts to provide quality care to residents who lack easy access to in-person care. I appreciate the work of FCC Commissioner Carr to help make this program a reality.”

Central Mississippi Continuum of Care accepting applications

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - The Central Mississippi Continuum of Care is seeking a Collaborative Applicant and an HMIS Lead Agency for the five-county organization working to end homelessness, provide affordable housing, and serve needs of homeless people and those at risk of homelessness.

The Collaborative Applicant will prepare the annual application for funding from the U.S.Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and provide a range of staffing andrecordkeeping responsibilities.
