JPD: Suspect killed, 18-year-old hurt during alleged home invasion

UPDATE: JPD says the person who died in this shooting is 25-year-old Jacoby Davis. 


UPDATE: Officers have released more information about the home invasion that happened overnight. 

JPD said it happened around 1:30 a.m.

Police said the person who died was attempting to break into the home.

We’re told an 18 year-old and a 7-year-old were at home when the break-in happened.

The teenager was shot multiple times and had to be taken to the hospital. The 7-year-old was not injured.

Police said they are not sure if other suspects were involved in the crime. They also aren’t sure there were others inside the residence when the home invasion occurred.

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson Police are investigating their 32nd homicide of 2017.

It happened early Wednesday morning in the 1900 block of Meadowbrook Road.

Jackson Police believe a home invasion lead to the shooting. We’re told an 18-year-old, who was inside the home, was shot. He’s currently listed in critical condition.

The home invasion suspect was killed, according to Jackson Police. That man has not been identified.
