The Jackson Public School District recently investigated criminal allegations against a high school teacher involving a student. As a result of the investigation, the teacher is no longer employed with the District. Jackson Public Schools is committed to the safety and security of all of its students.

According to Major Pete Luke from the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, Reginald Barnes is the teacher who was arrested. Luke also said JPS Police was the arresting agency. Barnes is facing charges of sexual battery and gratification of lust.  He was released the same day on his own recognizance.
