JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The Junior League of Jackson just turned 75.
A press conference honoring the organization was held Tuesday.
The President of the Junior League, Charlotte Seals, said she hopes those who go on to other things can apply what they’ve learned at the organization.
“We’ve grown,” she said. “We were a very small league when we organized and we are now the sixth largest league in the world. and it’s because of our great volunteers. we really focus on hands-on service in our community but at the same time developing volunteers to go on and develop leadership skills and apply those in other areas of their lives after they finish their active years in our league.”
The League was officially organized on Jan. 26, 1941. The proclamation will be given by the speaker of the house.
They are holding a champagne toast at the Old Capitol Museum tonight.
