FLORENCE, Miss. (WJTV) – A hate group sends a message to a Rankin County neighborhood on dozens of flyers.

Several people in a Florence neighborhood discovered brochures from the Ku Klux Klan Sunday morning.

According to the brochure, it is a part of a flyer drive to recruit new members to the hate group and for the people that got the message … they aren’t taking it lightly.

Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey says his deputies were called out to Old Pearson Road.

Sprinkled in a number of yards were flyers folded and tucked in plastic baggies with rocks.

Tarash Vaxter has been living in Florence for more than 40 years and this morning, she was shocked by the flyer.

“You know there’s prejudice here, all over the world but for it to hit your neighborhood, it is shocking,” said Vaxter.

This is the second reported incident like this to happen within the last month.

Right now, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating with the possibility of charging the person responsible.

If you know anything about the flyers call Rankin County Sheriff’s Department or the Florence Police.
