LEXINGTON, Miss. (AP) – A Mississippi sheriff says three suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting of a police officer who responded to a call about a party where people were reportedly not practicing social distancing.
Holmes County Sheriff Willie March said Kiara Brown, Jamie Pernell and Ayquanya Brown were taken into custody about 1 a.m. Friday.
The sheriff says the Lexington police officer drove himself to the hospital and was in stable condition after being shot while responding to the disturbance call Thursday night.
Authorities didn’t immediately release charges against the suspects. It’s unclear whether they have attorneys who can comment for them.
UPDATE 1:40 a.m. 5/8/20: All three suspects have been captured according to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Department.
UPDATE 1:20 a.m. 5/8/20: Two of the three suspects wanted in connection to the shooting of a Lexington police officer have been captured. Ayquanya Brown and Jamie Pernell were arrested around 1:00 a.m. They are currently being held at the Holmes County Sheriff’s Department.

UPDATE 12:55 a.m. 5/8/20: Lexington Police, The Holmes County Sheriff’s Department, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Marshall Task Force are asking for help finding three suspects. Kiara Brown, also known as “K-K,” Ayquanya Brown, and Jamie Pernell are wanted in connection to the shooting of a Lexington Police Officer Thursday night.
