JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Mississippi College administrators tell WJTV that a lightning strike damaged the school’s Clock Tower.
The Clock Tower sits on top of Nelson Hall. It was damaged during Thursday night’s storm.
When lightning struck the MC clock tower, 600 Super Summer campers from Baptist churches statewide were inside the Swor Auditorium on the building’s first floor. Power was temporarily knocked out.
“It’s too early to estimate the damage,” Steve Stanford, vice president for administration and government relations.“Assessments are being made, and work will be scheduled to repair all damage as quickly as possible.’’
The clock tower was built in 1947.
