VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – Over $18,000 is going toward the American Cancer Society thanks to a dinner where some local celebrities waited tables.

WJTV 12 reporter and weekend anchor Malary Pullen joined in on the fun.

The affair was held in Vicksburg at Ameristar Casino’s Bottleneck Blues Bar on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

WJTV spoke with one of the sponsors about the importance of the event.

“It’s something we’ve been doing now for the past couple of years.  We had a wonderful turnout last year, a great turnout this year. Ameristar has always had a tradition of sponsoring various charities throughout the community and this is one we feel is important and we’re proud to be a part of it,” said Gerad Hardy with the Ameristar Casino.

Other celebrity guests included Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs and Mississippi State Representative (D-55) Oscar Denton.
