2 firefighters killed following domestic disturbance in Natchez

NATCHEZ, Miss.(WJTV) – According to The Natchez Democrat, two volunteer firefighters were killed Friday night while responding to a domestic disturbance. 

The Adams County Coroner James Lee identified the two men as Jason Haley, 34, and Troy Whittington, 31. Lee told the paper the two died from gunshot wounds. 

Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten explained the shooting stemmed from an “ongoing domestic dispute” between the suspect Jonathan Beach and his wife. 

Haley was the fire chief at Liberty Road Volunteer Fire Department Chief, and Whittington was the fire chief for Lake Montrose Volunteer Fire Department. 

Beach has been charged with two counts of murder.
