A Jackson family is homeless after a fire gutted their home on Post Oak Road in Jackson.
Natasha Watson said she heard a loud pop around midnight and went to see where the noise came from. When she tried to open the back door the handle was to hot to touch. One of her children looked outside and saw the family van engulfed in flames.
The fire department arrived fifteen minutes later but the blaze had already traveled to the rest of the home.
Watson, her partner Willie Pepper and their three children, along with a friend were able to get out of the house safely.
Watson says she believes an extended family member intentionally set the fire.
Later today, the American Red Cross came by with resources to help the family find temporary lodging.
Jackson Fire Department investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze.
