Local News

Prom season is here!

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Department gave Terry High School student a dose of reality.

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Department exposed them to a mock DUI scene.

They underwent mock field sobriety tests and even witnessed mock dead bodies.

School officials and other community leaders spoke to the students.

They spoke to spread the message of not drinking and driving.

Vice Principal Matthew Scott says, “I saw first hand some of my classmates who passed due to traffic accidents. So I lived this first hand seeing the scene of a crime and stuff like that, so this is I think… an eye opener for some of our kids and we got feedback from doing it last year. That it did have an impact on our seniors last year so as often as we can we are going to continue to do it.”

Terry High School’s prom is this Friday night.
