WJTV received information about a loaded gun left in a restroom of A.W. Watson elementary school In Claiborne County over the weekend.
We reached out to the district. Dr. Annie Kilcrease, Superintendent of Claiborne County School District, released the following statement regarding a loaded firearm being left inside of the elementary school:
“A weapon was found in one of the restrooms of the elementary school but was found prior to any students or any employees arriving on the campus. We are thankful that the students nor staff were never in any danger relative to this matter. The investigation, a personnel matter, is ongoing and upon completion of the investigation, appropriate actions will be taken.”
