Hattiesburg remembers their fallen law enforcement officers

Local News

Police week comes once a year to remember the people who ‘serve and protect’ everyday.

Today the Hattiesburg Police Department honored their fallen brothers and sisters with a ceremony. It is a somber reminder for Hattiesburg Police Chief Anthony Parker.

“To show the families of those individuals that they will never be forgotten. to let them know the law enforcement community at large still appreciates the sacrifice their loved one gave”

As the names of the officers who lost their lives were called— a white rose was placed for their sacrifice.

“As you know Biloxi has an officer killed in the line of duty, officer McKeithen. We want to send our condolences to their family and Biloxi Police Department”

Students from Petal Middle School stated they are honored to be given the opportunity to perform for the memorial

“It was a new and interesting experience, and I really like to be a part of this and it was eye-opening”

The ceremony ended with a final salute and moment of silence.

Police Week isn’t over yet so pull out that blue shirt, hair bow, or tie and show support to —-your local law enforcement
