It was a perfect day for golf, thankfully, because over a hundred golfers turned out at the Country Club of Jackson Monday for a very good cause.
Around this time every year, the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center hosts the Hearts and Clubs Golf Tournament.
While the players were having fun, they were raising awareness of heart disease and money for programs like outpatient rehabilitation services.
Cardiologist Dr. Chris Waterer said heart disease is “very common [and is] the leading killer across the country and in Mississippi it’s obviously the leading cause of death.”
Golfers who entered the tournament bought into the cause at $1,200 per team.
