Jackson Police investigating the death of a man, two days after he was arrested. Neighbors blame police for the death of George Robinson.
Robinson’s arrest happened just hours after the death of a pastor at a church this past weekend.
WJTV 12’s Shay O’Connor spoke with people who lived in the area about George Robinson and exactly what happened Sunday morning.
That’s when K-9 and Vice Narcotics were out apparently out looking for suspects in the shooting of Pastor Anthony Longino. He was robbed and gunned down in front of his own church Sunday morning.
People in the area said there was heavy police presence that day. Officers saw George Robinson in front of a home where police thought the suspect might have been.
People in the area said they saw police beating Robinson before slamming him to the ground. They said an ambulance was called but many were unsure of how Robinson got to the hospital. JPD said Robinson was charged with a misdemeanor. Chief James Davis with JPD said a full investigation is being conducted on exactly what happened.
Chief James Davis said ” Right now the investigation is ongoing. No one has come forward to say the police did anything wrong. That’s why we’ve come forward in addressing the issue. “
Many people in the area said they did not come forward because they were afraid.
