Jackson teens deliver turkeys to senior citizens

Local News

High school students in Jackson are using their Fall break to volunteer and helped deliver several dozen turkeys to senior citizens at the Sheppard Park Community Center.

Football players from Jim Hill, Provine, and Calloway High School teamed up with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Dept. to drop the donations.

Senior services department staff say they’re grateful for the contribution and each of the students say it’s an honor to volunteer their time.

“It’s great to have them here with us,” Sheriff Victor Mason said. “They are great kids and it says a lot about them that they’re here with us giving back to the community that they are a part of.”

“This is something we will do again. We will definitely do this again.”
