Louisiana man arrested after high speed chase

Feb. 11 Pearl Police received a call from Wal-Mart due to someone shoplifting from the business and assaulting the Loss Prevention Officer. 

The LOP was able to obtain a description of the vehicle the male fled in.

Vigilant officers identified the car during a traffic stop on I-20 westbound, west of Pearson Rd. 

The driver was identified as Aaron Thomas Alessi during the traffic stop but he fled the scene. 

Pearl officers began to chase the vehicle and Richland Police Department and canine Robbie quickly joined in on the chase. 

Alessie continued to evade officers and continued on I-55 south traveling through multiple jurisdictions of the approaching pursuit. 

Eventual the suspect Alessi lost control of the vehicle in Copiah County on I-55 south near the 57-mile marker. 

Alessi exited his car and re-entered because of his actions canine Robbie was released and successfully restrained Alessi allowing officers to take him to custody. 

Alessi received medical attention on-scene due to his encounter with the police canine Robbie. 

A female passenger was detained but is facing no charges as a result of this incident. 

Aaron Thomas Alessi was transported to Pearl Police Department and charged with a felony of fleeing, shoplifting 1st offense, simple assault, no proof of motor vehicle liability, reckless driving and no driver’s license. 

He is in custody of the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department Detention Facility.

No bond is set.
