The date is set for the trial of Cory Godbolt– the man accused of killing eight people in Lincoln County.

Godbolt’s trial will take place in Lincoln County but, the jury will be picked elsewhere. WJTV 12’s Justin Devonn has the story from Brookhaven.

Jury selection, location, and admissible evidence were a few topics discussed in the motions during this pre-trial of Willie cory Godbolt.

Godbolt is accused of going on a deadly rampage in 2017  leaving eight people dead – including a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy.

Lawyers are pushing to move the trial out of Lincoln County saying he can’t get a fair trial there. The judge denied the motion.

“After all this research is going to transfer venue for this case to De Soto County Mississippi where a jury will be picked sequestered and bussed back to Lincoln County. The jury will not be exposed to people who might say untold things to them even if they have to go eat lunch and dinner at the hotel they’re going to be in here. we’re going to bring the jury here to try the case.”

The trial is set for February 10, 2020 in Brookhaven.
