Update: The victim has been identified by a Hinds County Coroner.
28-year-old Walter Thompson Jr. passes away from multiple gunshot wounds.
WJTV’s crew was scheduled to go live at the Commonwealth Village Apartments on Skyview
Drive.
WJTV 12’s reporter Gerald Harris says, “There seemed to be multiple people firing weapons—my photographer saw someone carrying an AK-47 style gun. We immediately fell to the ground to prevent being shot.”
The incident happened at the Commonwealth Apartments on Skyview Drive.
JPD is searching for the suspects accused of murder.
A friend of the victim spoke to WJTV 12’s Gerald Harris about the shooting.
“Honestly man they just took a real father from their kids — whatever just happened — God knows and what he know God knows — but y’all took a real father somebody who was really participating and active in their children’s life.”
The identity of the victim has not been released.
The Jackson Police Department is investigating a shooting at an apartment complex on Skyview Drive.
A male victim died on the scene after suffering from being shot.
At least three unknown black males left the scene in a gray or silver Nissan Altima, tag HNF 3913.
