The Mississippi Economic Council celebrated 70 years of enhancing Mississippi’s business community during its annual powerplay meeting.
The celebration took place at the Jackson Convention complex Thursday morning.
Nearly 2,000 business, community leaders, and students attended.
One of this year’s speakers was Marshall Ramsey, who is the editor of “Mississippi Today.”
His panel discussed the upcoming election in Mississippi.
Marshall Ramsey says, “Well I think with so many different candidates out there, I think the public really needs to be on top of who they are and what they stand for. Cause this isn’t your average race where there’s like one or two people you gotta pay attention to. There are literally dozens of candidates out there. So the media’s role in this is one of information and of course for you as the viewer, you need to be out there paying attention.”
WJTV 12’s Byron Brown moderated the first panel early Thursday morning.
More than 300 star students were also honored at the education celebration during the event.
