Pastor’s murder brings heartbreak to faith community

Local News

Several religious Leaders are heartbroken over the death of Pastor Anthony Logino.

Pastor PJ Williams started his work in ministry in the early 90s. One of the men alongside him was Pastor Logino .

“It doesn’t make a difference how many police officers we have in the city of Jackson or who the mayor of the city is. Until we change the hearts of men and women, we’re not going to stop crime,” Williams said

Williams says he watched the 63-year-old walk in his calling for decades.
He went into neighborhoods others refused to go to and prayed for people that some will not  give a second look.

“He was the person that the Lord sent out here to minister to the people. You can’t be afraid to go into neighborhoods and that’s one thing about Pastor Logino. If you pass by his church now, you go by there and you will know that he was in an area that he was not afraid to be in.”

Several other pastors and people across the country have expressed their sympathies on social media.
Now Pastor Williams is calling on those other leaders to take a stand against the constant battle to make the city’s streets safe again.

“Let’s meet together and have prayer in an area that is not downtown or a hotel. that’s going to the streets let’s going to West Jackson was going to Georgetown,” Williams sad. “Let’s go into these areas and talk to these young men on their level and find out what’s really on their minds.”

Marquez Hamilton was arrested and charged with capital murder. Three additional warrants have been issued, those names have not been released.
