Local News

Cheshire Abbey in Jackson is dedicated to meeting the needs of animals that don’t have owners. Here’s  how you can help them achieve that goal, and do something nice for yourself.
Pose for Paws is coming up this Saturday (4/27/19) at The Club at Township in Ridgeland. For a $30 donation to Cheshire Abbey you can take a yoga class, enjoy a light brunch and maybe even meet your new best friend.

Ever dreamed of doing the downward dog with an actual dog? At Pose for Paws, this Saturday(4/27/19), at The Club’s Township location, you can make that happen.

Club Program Director Rachel Curry explains, ” (It is) Adoptable dog yoga. So if you fall in love with one of the puppies or dogs, you can bring it home with you.”

Weather permitting the Yoga classes will be outside in an idyllic setting. Regardless of age or fitness level, yoga is good for you.

Personal Trainer Ty Park explains, “A lot of muscle tension that I’ll have through other workouts. it’s kind of relieving that, and also, kind of of whenever I’m doing other movements, my range of motion increased and also, my recovery time has decreased as well.”

Classes are set for 8:30 and 9:30 Saturday morning. You can sign up at theclubms.com ,then center your chi in the knowledge that you are helping Cheshire Abbey.

Rachel says, “They are an awesome local rescue agency, for all dogs, all animals. They are a no kill rescue agency. They put dogs in foster homes in the area. They just really help with the community.”

  That’s not all.

Rachel adds, “If you bring items such as a towel, any cleaning products, a leash, a collar or anything you get a VIP gift bag.”

I asked, “What’s in the gift bag?”

Rachel answered, “There’s so many goodies, you want to bring something to get this gift bag.”

So if you like dogs, surprises or both, take a deep cleansing breath and head to the Club at Township.

Rachel concludes, “You need to be at this event, because I know that you want to adopt dogs. I know that you at least want to do yoga with dogs and have a mimosa and eat some breakfast with us.”

Yoga classes typically last about an hour, and make you feel so good.

You do not have to be a member of the Club to take part in Pose for Paws. Everyone is welcome.
