Local News

–UPDATE–  Following court Saturday, R. Kelly was given a $1 million bond.

In the state of Illinois, there are no bondsmen, so Kelly must pay 10-percent of the bond amount in order to be released from custody, pending prosecution.

According to Kelly’s attorney, Kelly is “trying to get the money together.”

He also said that Kelly’s bond amount is “exceedingly reasonable, given the charges.”

R&B performer R. Kelly has been arrested in Chicago in connection with multiple sex abuse charges.

The arrest follows decades of allegations that the singer violated children and adult women.

Kelly surrendered to authorities in Cook County, Illinois on Friday night, according to a report from CBS News.

He surrendered just hours after prosecutors announced the sex abuse charges against him.

Kelly is facing the grand jury Saturday, on the numerous felonies which involve four victims; three of whom were under the age of 17 when he allegedly performed multiple forced sex acts on them, between1998 and 2010.

Authorities say they have a 45-minute videotape which allegedly shows the 52-year-old man engaging in sex acts with a 14-year-old-girl.
