Local News

Full on family friendly fitness is coming to Lakeshore Park this Saturday (4/13/19) morning. Training is underway for this year’s Racin’ for the Seed. If you like bounce houses, live music, good friends and food this years Racin’ for the Seed has something for you.

These days Seedsters spend their mornings clocking a 5K around their beautiful Brandon facility.

We asked Seedster Charlie Winstead, “Have you done a lot of training so far?”

 Charlie answered, “Yes, I have.”

We asked, “Are you in good shape this year?”

 Charlie answered, “Yes, I have.”

We asked, “Are you going to walk the whole way?”

 Charlie answered, “Yes, I am.”

At this year’s even you can do none, part are all of the duathalon.

Mustard Seed Executive Director Del Harrington explains, “Which is a 5K and a 14 mile bike ride followed by a one mile run. It’s a lot of fun.”

The Seedsters want to fellowship with you at Lakeshore Park.

Seedster Sarah Simonson explains. “To come out to see us to walk and, of course, have some fun and have an awesome day at the park.”

And you’ll be helping the Mustard Seed meets the needs of adults with developmental disabilities.

Del breaks it down, “In 5 years, we’ve raised  more than $158,000 for the ministry of the Mustard Seed, and we don’t receive state and federal funding, so events like Racin’ for the Seed, and any other things that get put on, are huge.”

All the money raised will be planted right here at the Mustard Seed.

 You can register at racinfortheseed.com

Frank the Camel, who is an actual camel, will also be at Lakeshore Park this Saturday. The race gets started at 8:00 a.m.
