Jackson philanthropist and cancer research advocate Lori Newcomb was laid to rest Monday.
She passed away last week. Newcomb was diagnosed with III-C ovarian cancer in 2013.
Newcomb was the co-founder of ‘Newk’s Cares’, which raises money for ovarian cancer research. Her friends and family described her as someone who was always doing for others, including her community;
“Even when something terrible happened she made sure that something really positive and good that came out it,” said friend Stephanie Rippee.
Along with her husband Chris, the effort raised more than $1M over the course of the last six years.
She is survived by her husband and three children, Blair, Hayes, and Madison.
