RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) – Mayor Gene McGee and the Ridgeland Board of Alderman announced the appointment of Lieutenant Brian Myers as Chief of the Ridgeland Police Department. The announcement was made at a recent meeting of the Mayor and Board and comes after the retirement notice of Chief John Neal.

“The Board and I are very happy with our decision to appoint Lt. Myers as our next Chief of Police. His impeccable qualifications, experience, leadership, and respect from other officers within the department made it evident he is the right choice to lead our department,” McGee stated. “We congratulate him and look forward to his continued service to our community.”

Myers’ career in law enforcement began in 1998 when he was hired as a patrol officer with the Ridgeland PD. Since then, Myers has held various positions within the Ridgeland PD, including commander of both Criminal Investigations and Patrol divisions and co-commander of the SWAT team.

“I’m grateful to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for having the faith in me to lead the best police department in the state. It has been a privilege to serve Ridgeland for the past 24 years, and I’m honored to continue my career as its Chief of Police,” Myers said.

Currently, Myers commands the Patrol Division of the Ridgeland PD, and his appointment to Chief will take effect July 1, 2022.
