School employee mistaken for bad guy, locks down campus

Local News

A Rankin County school went on lockdown after mistaking a cafeteria worker for a possible active-shooter.

The newly-hired school cafeteria worker was thought to be an “unknown person” roaming Northwest Rankin High School.

One student said he and his classmates were told to barricade the door, just in case there was an active shooter.

Police were dispatched before learning the situation was a falsealarm.
