A hostage situation is now over but not before several people were killed.
A man is believed to have held multiple people hostage for almost 12 hours on Hampton Street Saturday.
Not long after 12:30 pm, shots rang out in a northern Clinton community in the midst of a deadly hostage situation.
Four people were killed.
It all began in the early hours of Saturday morning when officers received a call about a domestic dispute on Foxhill Drive.
When police arrived, things took a turn for the worse.
By sunrise neighbors along the street woke up to an unusual scene, one described as a war zone with more than 50 law enforcement cars and S.W.A.T. surrounding the home.
As time went on authorities say two children were eventually released from the home.
The hostage situation came to an end at around 2:00 pm.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations has taken over this case and authorities say the suspect is now in custody.
The sights and sounds of the hostage scene have neighbors shaken up… many say they live in a quiet neighborhood and these types of things never happen…
WJTV spoke to one neighbor — who says it was easy to figure out something wasn’t right.
“It’s just nothing like this before, nobody could tell us what was going on, but you just use your common sense. but you know with so many police officers and so many different agencies, it’s got to be something bad. Just like that, what you just heard. This does not happen in this neighborhood. It’s quiet. We have good Clinton Police presence patrolling.”
