The threat of severe weather has emergency management getting ready.
Rankin County EOC added an extra tool to their belts about a year ago to stay infront of the weather, and that tool is a computer program.
The program is called Adobe Connect, and the purpose of the software is to connect first responders and emergency crews when storms roll in. It allows each team to communicate in real time.
There is a place for everyone to have conversations via chat room, and they can see where damage reports are coming from. There is even an option to Skype and show live video from outside.
Michael Word is the Rankin County Emergency Management Director, “everybody gets the same information at the same time from the same person in the same way.”
All of this gathered information is not only shared on this program, it’s also put on social media.
