Stokes says convenience store has to go

Local News

Jackson City councilman Kenneth Stokes says it’s time to do something about the JASCO store on Woodrow Wilson.

Stokes says the 24 hour operating time draws a criminal element to the area. He says recent violence simply underscores his argument. Following a shootout on Wednesday, he wants the place closed.

“We must send a message throughout the City of Jackson that we are not going to accept convenience stores that operate as criminal dens. It’s not going to happen.”

Ward 3 councilman said he’d rather see an empty building at that location than to risk losing another life.
