Tate Reeves silent on ‘Black Face’ Issue, Jim Hood speaks

Local News

Both front runners in the race for Mississippi governor are facing questions about controversial yearbook pictures.

Lt. Governor Tate Reeves, a Republican, isn’t saying much more about members of his fraternity wearing ‘black face’ while he was a member at Millsaps College.

Pictures from an early 90’s Millsaps College yearbook show members of Kappa Alpha participated in ‘black face’ while he was a member.

A follow up request to interview Reeves did not receive a response.

Attorney General Jim Hood says this is the difference between him and his potential Republican opponent– facing issues head on.

“Are we going to be trying to divide on partisan issues or are we going to bring Mississippi together where working people no matter whether they’re black or white that’s what my job as Governor would be,” Hood said.
