JEFFERSON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Unidentified human remains have been found in Jefferson County.

Officials with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said the unidentified remains were found on Rodney Road in Lorman on Saturday, August 12.

According to Sheriff James Bailey, the remains were located across from a deer camp and had been covered with a throw blanket.

Bailey said investigators believe the remains had been at the location for three weeks or a month. He does suspect foul play in the case.

The remains were sent to the State Crime Lab for further investigation.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will handle the case. Anyone with information can contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at (601) 786-3403.
